“People say nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.”
I found this quote on a list called the “top ten funniest quotes.” The irony here is that most of us will laugh at this and then at the end of the day feel depressed or even beat ourselves up because we feel like we “did nothing” all day. Or like the lyrics from Sarah McLachlan’s song “Angel,” we let this tune play on the stage of our mind: “There’s always one reason to feel not good enough at the end of the day.”
Yes admit it, even if you did get a lot accomplished, I bet you can still find at least one reason, why you didn’t measure up or should have done more. Then of course we don’t stop there. Next we start comparing ourselves to someone else, and of course we compare their best to our worst.
Well I am here to say KNOCK THAT OFF. You are an incredible human being. There is no one else like you. Fact of the matter is, if there is an endangered species that we should be concerned about, it’s you, it’s your neighbor, it’s your mother, or brother. See God only made one of each of us, that’s it-just one, and no one else can delight Him the way we can or do what we came here to do.
That also means we can quit trying to be someone else because God didn’t create us to be someone else, He created us to be just who we are. Now that doesn’t mean we don’t need to try and better ourselves or to work on living our life purpose. What it means is that we are specially designed and we have been given are own set of gifts, talents and particular ways to impact this planet for good. So, it’s never to late to tap into our potential.
So don’t look at your circumstances and waste any more time criticizing and second-guessing. Instead say, “God, I believe in you, and I believe you want me to be an instrument in your hands. So, here-do what you will with me.” Once you sincerely ask this, start looking and listening. Pay attention to what you notice. All of a sudden you will be flipping through the channels and a message will hit you. Then you will see it or hear it again and again. Perhaps on a billboard, in a book, something a friend says or on the news. Just start noticing it’s there.
God is patiently waiting for you to ask Him about the plan He has for your life. And the good news is that all he needs from you is a willing heart.
“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.” Chronicles 16:9
So whether you’re a mother with five kids, single with no kids, a grandma, or whatever your circumstances are, God has a plan for wherever you are at. So team up with God and let Him sit in the pilot seat. Slide right on over to the co-pilot’s seat. Don’t worry; it’s warm because God has been keeping it warm for you. Then fasten your seat belt because you’re about to see your life from a whole new vantage point.
